We know it's a terrifying time right now, and it's easy to feel helpless with the uncertainty and fear surrounding this public health crisis. But in R2R and Things That Matter, one thing that is deeply embedded in our way of life is doing something, no matter how tiny that contribution is. We believe in the power of small steps.
Our S/S 2017 collection, Versions, embraces the beautiful complexity of the R2R Woman and adapts to the multiple transformations she makes every day while still weaving together the values she carries. Each piece in this collection transforms into two completely different personas, adapting to the different versions of the R2R Woman.
Tsaa Laya is a social enterprise that employs the women of Calauan to grow local herbs, fruits, and spices and make tea out of them, promoting Philippine plants as modern tea ingredients in the process.
Rags2Riches, a fashion and design house empowering community artisans from the Philippines, is expanding its line of classic, functional, and artisanal bags by launching its Fall/Holiday 2016 Collection, the Medina on the 20th of September at South Court, Power Plant Mall.
Most R2R advocates are familiar with the artisans behind the signature R2R weave that make up most of our pieces. But there is a group of weavers that we also love working and weaving joyful stories with. These are the talented indigenous communities around the Philippines.
Since the launch of R2R Living two years ago, we've been working hard to bring stylish, artisanal, and sustainable home accents to our growing number of R2R advocates who value green design for your homes. And in those two years, we’ve achieved some milestones that we would like to share and celebrate with you.
It’s the first time we’ve let our advocates have a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in our workshop and have them actually participate in the bag-making process with our workshop artisans. Here are the highlights of what our advocates experienced during the exclusive workshop and open house.
A big part of what we do in R2R is transformation. It’s in our name itself, Rags2Riches. From starting with rugs or floor mats used in many Filipino homes to making meaningful bags and home accents, we’ve come a long way. Much of this should be credited to the designers who provided a vision that propelled our artisans’ talent for weaving into a brand beloved by our advocates.
There are so many things to love about Metro Manila and we don't even have to look that hard to see it. We’ve curated this list for both tourists visiting Metro Manila for the first time or for those living in the city for so long but are looking for reasons to fall in love with it again.
This is a much-needed shout-out to Filipino brands and items we're head over heels for here at the R2R HQ! These are products, places, and people we’re in love with because they embody everything the R2R team personally believes in: excellence in quality, proudly homegrown, and an empowering social or environmental vision.
Summer is almost over and as much as we’re glad that the weather is starting to be much cooler, we're going to miss being able to hang out and have adventures under the sun. The rainy season calls for a lot of staying indoors but that doesn’t mean we have to let go of the fun and joyful feel of summer.
Here are three ways to keep the summer spirit alive with the use of our eco-ethical home accents and pieces from R2R Living.
Our store ambassadors are so much more than just sales associates; they are true representatives of R2R. Strike a conversation with them when you visit any of our stores and they can share with you the many joyful stories under their belt.

The meaningful story behind the Valore Collection is the brainchild of R2R's lead designer, Chris Cera. Allow us to take you through the design process of this newest collection, where he gets his inspiration to design R2R's artisanal bags, and what you can expect from R2R's upcoming collections.
The Valore Collection illustrates the story of Filipinos living in other parts of the world yet still carry with them the things they value the most. We hear about these modern day heroes every day – how they found themselves uprooted from the familiarity and comfort of home in order to secure better lives for their loved ones back in the Philippines. It is their hard work, sacrifice, and dedication to the people and principles they value that brought life to the bags of Valore.
The signature R2R weave is special not just because of how it looks. The magic of this weave starts in the homes of our community-based artisans where they take strips of fabric, knot them together, and weave them using a simple wooden frame with perfectly calibrated nails. Let us break that down a little bit.
Last January 2016, we beta launched R2R Bespoke, our made-to-order service for your most special life events: weddings, debuts, baptisms, and more. This is a huge milestone for us and we are super grateful because this new line paves the way for more of our amazing artisans to get access to markets. Aside from this, we get to be part of one of the most important days in our advocates' lives and nothing is more exciting than that.
Upcycle your old shirts and turn them into beautiful tassels with only 2 materials and 8 super easy steps. These tassels can be used as accessories to decorate your bags (like what we do with our Stella Clutches!) or even as keychains and room decorations.
We finally have all those pretty, artisan-made, and functional pieces you have always wanted for your home. This collaboration with Marilen.ph is a first for our home accessories line; it has allowed us to branch out from area rugs and pillowcases and into handwoven planters, serving trays, and more that our artisans wove for you.
Last January 15, we held our first event of 2016: the R2R x Risqué Launch and Shopping Party. We launched our most exciting collaborative piece yet; Risqué designed three new shoes and incorporated the signature R2R woven panel in them!
For your gift-giving this season, we've curated a guide to help you pick gifts for your friends and family. Every R2R item is intricately handcrafted and heartwoven using upcycled and overstock fabric by our talented community artisans. It's this kind of intentional and meaningful gift-giving that makes the holiday season all the more special and filled with love.
Rags2Riches, Inc. (R2R) a fashion and design house and for-profit social enterprise from the Philippines, is a 2015 Eileen Fisher NY Women-Owned Business Grantee. What makes this recognition extra special? R2R is the first organization in Asia – and outside the US and Canada, for that matter – to win the grant! This makes us so happy and honored.
